That For Doodly-Squat, Jim!
The federal government's budget offers little or nothing for that large segment of taxpayers comprising the age group of 45 - 65 years (generally those without children under 18); singles; and precious little for seniors over 65.
The middle age group for the most part, have no children under 18 years old. The over 65 crowd gets a whopping $155 per year extra from the Age credit and may benefit from income splitting if both spouses have disproportionate incomes. If you are single, (young or old) forget it. You get zip. Other crumbs may be available subject to age, income, lifestyle, or driving habits.
However, in British Columbia, we aren't even sure if the budget applies to us. In his budget speech, Jim said: "...we take pride in the spectacular beauty of our country and aspire to preserve it. From the majestic peaks of the Rocky Mountains to the rugged shores of Newfoundland and Labrador, many of the most beautiful places on earth are in Canada..."
Jim, for your information the Pacific Ocean doesn't lap onto the shores of Banff! Looking from Ottawa, you will find British Columbia on the other side of the Rocky Mountains.
